About a year ago K was lamenting the fact that she had out grown all of her smocked dresses. I felt inspired and off we went to purchase fabric. The sales woman at the time commented that the fabric would make a very cheery winter dress. I knew that I would never have the dress finished to wear that winter but hoped for a summer dress. Not! I shipped the fabric off to New York to be pleated and got it back in April to start the smocking process.
The smocking on this dress was a modification of the smocking we had done on one of their previous dresses. As I felt that it needed a couple more rows of smocking than the previous dress I add the hearts on the bottom and elongated the pattern to add the center chain.
I am please that this dress has generous tucks for growth and easily goes from summer to winter with the addition of a long sleeved T.
(Note: This is the first of the 5 dresses I made late last year. Though belated, I did want to share them.)
